
Phlebotomy Technician Program
Program Overview
This comprehensive 160-hour Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in phlebotomy. Through a combination of classroom instruction and an 80-hour externship, students will gain hands-on experience and develop the competencies required for entry-level positions in healthcare facilities.

Anatomy and Physiology: Gain a fundamental understanding of human anatomy and physiology, with a focus on the circulatory system.

Phlebotomy Techniques: Master the art of venipuncture and capillary puncture, including patient identification, vein selection, and blood collection procedures.

Blood Collection Equipment: Learn to use a variety of blood collection equipment, such as needles, syringes, and evacuated tubes.

Laboratory Procedures: Acquire knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, including specimen handling, processing, and storage.

Medical Terminology: Develop a strong foundation in medical terminology, including prefixes, suffixes, and root words.

Infection Control: Understand and practice universal precautions and other infection control measures to ensure patient and healthcare worker safety.

Legal and Ethical Issues: Learn about legal and ethical considerations in phlebotomy practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Externship: Apply classroom learning in a real-world healthcare setting through an 80-hour externship.

Upon completing the Phlebotomy program, students will be eligible to take the national certification examination.

This program teaches to obtain blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Phlebotomists must be familiar with all aspects of the blood collection process. Lectures include laboratory terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen processing, communication skills, legal/ethical issues and professionalism. You will have hands-on laboratory practice sessions as well as clinical training. Our courses are 8 weeks per session.
